Triathlon & Duathlons

Club races are held approximately once a month at the Sydney International Regatta Centre, Penrith.  Occasionally we hold Special Events at alternate venues.

Volunteers are needed for each race. We have various roles that need to be filled to ensure we can run safe, fun races for our members and guests. If you can assist at one of our races, please register by using the Volunteer Now registration links on the races listed below.

Online registration closes 2 days prior to race date (unless it is a Special Event – refer to the event page for information).

Ages and Race Distances*

*standard distances noted. Distances may change, refer individual registration information.

TRIATHLON RACES – standard distances

Club Distance (15+ years): 1km Swim / 30km Bike / 8km Run
Sprint Distance (14+ years): 750m Swim / 20km Bike / 5km Run
Enticer Distance (12+ years): 250m Swim / 10km Bike / 2km Run
Junior Distance (10-15 years): 100m Swim / 5km Bike / 1km Run
Mini / Micro (Under 10 years): 50m Swim / 1km Bike / 200m Run

DUATHLON RACES   – standard distances      

Sprint Distance (14+ years): 2.5km Run / 20km Bike / 5km Run
Enticer Distance (12+ years): 2km Run / 10km Bike / 2km Run
Junior Distance (10-15 years): 1km Run / 5km Bike / 1km Run
Sub Junior (7-10 years): 500m Run / 2km Bike / 500m Run
Mini / Micro (Under 7 years*):
100m Run / 1km Bike / 100m Run
*note – children up to 10 years of age can be registered for the Mini/Micro race

**Sub Junior & Mini/Micro race distances are maximum distances for kids under 7 years.  Mini/micro races are untimed, with a focus on having fun.

Distances may be shortened at Race Director’s discretion.

General Information

MEDICAL FITNESS/SIGNED WAIVER:
You are reminded of your acceptance of entry conditions, waiver release and indemnification. Please note this is a legal part of entering the race and affects your rights. You have attested your physical condition to participate in this event. If you have developed a medical condition since you registered to enter, then this should be brought to attention of the Race Director and, where deemed appropriate by the Race Director, a medical certificate produced.

MEDICAL:
Qualified First Aid Personnel will be on duty at our races.  Please ask for medical help if you have the slightest hint you may need it.

BIKE AND HELMET SAFETY:
You should ensure that your bike is in race worthy condition and you must wear a Bike Helmet that carries an Australian Standards Approved Sticker. You should ensure that it is adjusted properly.

RACE RULES:
PTC follows the Triathlon Australia competition rules.  You can locate the TA Competition Rules via their website – http://www.triathlon.org.au/

Competitors are responsible for their own safety, the safety of their own equipment and are to be considerate of the safety of others.

NON-MEMBERS:
Note – Non-Club Members and/or Non-AusTriathlon Members are permitted to participate in a maximum of two (2) club conducted events within New South Wales in any given membership year (1 July – 30 June each year). You must then become a member of AusTriathlon prior to registering for any future races.

PRE-RACE BRIEFING:
Please ensure you listen to the race briefing provided by the Race Director on the day.

  • Any updates will be provided by the Race Director at the briefing.  If any pre-information becomes available, it will be posted on the PTC Facebook page.

Race Options:

Triathlon: (NOTE: You will need a wetsuit for this event)

  • Sprint – 14+years – 750m swim/20km bike/5km run
  • Enticer – 12+ years – 250m swim/10km bike/2km run
  • Junior 10-15 years – 100m swim/5km bike/1km run
  • **NOTE – No Mini Micro or Sub Junior triathlon race options

Duathlon:

  • Sprint – 14+ years 5km run/20km bike/2.5km run
  • Enticer – 12 + years 2km run/10km bike/2km run
  • Junior – 10-15 years 1km run/5km bike/1 km run
  • Sub-Junior – 7-10 years 500m run/2km bike/500m run
  • Mini/micro – under 7 years – 100m run/1km bike/100m run
    **children up to 10 years of age can register for the mini/micro race

  • Registration desk opens 12.45pm
  • Registration desk closes 1.45pm
  • Race briefing 1.50pm
  • Mini/Micro & Sub-Junior race start 2.00pm

 

Junior, Enticer & Sprint TRIATHLON & DUATHLON Races

  • Registration desk opens 12.45pm
  • Registration desk closes 1.45pm – if you arrive after this time, you will not be able to race
  • Main race briefing 2.15pm (approx.) – straight after mini micro/sun junior races finish
  • Junior, Enticer & Sprint TRIATHLON & DUATHLON races start 2.30pm (approx.)

IMPORTANT NOTE – if you have not done an open water swim-based triathlon, or have not swum at the Regatta Centre previously, we strongly recommend that you do the Enticer distance first, regardless of whether you are a ‘strong’ swimmer. This enables you to gain some open water experience prior to stepping up to the longer distance. Swimming in an open body of water is quite different from swimming in a pool.
